Formatting Files for Import
Formatting Files for Import

Correctly format contact files for easy import into Rally Platform.

Updated over a week ago

Here is an example of a correctly formatted file for import.

To format your file, remember:

  • Files must be in .csv format

  • The cell data should be left-aligned

  • The only mandatory field is Phone Number, and the column header should be formatted as phone_number. We recommend having the phone number field in the first column position.

  • If a contact has multiple tags, separate each tag with a comma

  • 8,000 Phone Numbers Max Per Upload. Contact support if you need to import more than 8k records at a time.

Google Sheets users can use this template here. Just save it as a CSV, as seen in the example below.

If you are using Microsoft Excel, save your file as a CSV, as seen below. However, we recommend you not use the CSV UTF-8 Comma Delimited or any other format as you may encounter errors.

Additional Fields: You can also include additional fields in your file import. These might include email address, location (city, state, zipcode, etc), CRM ID, etc.

Pro Tip: We recommend removing all the columns and data you do not need. While not required, it will make troubleshooting your import much easier. The most common errors are usually caused by having data in an invalid format and the file saved in the wrong file type.

If you get stuck, feel free to submit your file to [email protected] using the chat icon in the platform. Just click the question mark on the left-hand side menu.
