How Rally Credits Work
Credits are used for both outbound and inbound messages:
SMS up to 160 characters (1 segment) → 1 credit
SMS 161–320 characters (2 segments) → 2 credits
MMS (images, video, special chars, etc.) → 2 credits
Heads up: Special characters, emojis, or certain non-standard text (like smart quotes or accented characters) may cause your message to be sent as MMS or split into multiple segments. When in doubt, test your message in the platform preview.
We recommend that you always leave room for longer field values (for example, if you are personalizing with {first_name}), URLs, and, of course, message replies.
The system may not allow you to send to a $0 budget, so plan on a little margin or enable auto-recharge to make this seamless.
💡 Tip: Use the character and credit counter as you compose a message to understand how the system is counting your message.
