Opting Out Contacts

Follow the guidelines below to learn how to bulk opt-out contacts, including landline numbers.

Updated over a week ago

Once you send your first text message to a contact, our system will automatically run a report on whether that contact is a mobile phone that can receive text messages, or if it is a landline number. If it is a landline number, it will get automatically tagged in your contacts database as "landline".

Note: It cannot be determined if a contact is a landline until they are first sent a message.

Warning: not every error code is accurate at 100%. Some error codes pertaining to why a message bounced to a contact could get resolved and the message sent at a later time. However if you do opt someone out manually in the system and you find out they are able to receive your messages you can always ask support opt them back in. Just click email [email protected].

You may want to manually opt these contacts out so that in the future you don't waste credits sending your messages to landline contacts that won't receive them. The best way to do this is by opting out in bulk from your contacts tab. To do this, follow the steps below.

Step 1:

Go to your contacts tab on the left menu.

In contacts, make sure to search for the "landline number" tag as shown in the picture below.

Step 2:

Check the box to select all contacts.

Note: If there are more than 25 contacts you want to select or need to select all contacts filtered, a circle with "Select all contacts filtered" will display next to the option to deselect your contacts.

After you have selected the contacts you want to bulk opt out, click the red bell button as shown below.

Step 3:

Finally the system will ask if you are sure you want to opt these contacts out. As long as you are sure, click "Yes, I'm sure".

After, the system should refresh and these contacts will now be opted out.

To opt out individual contacts:

First click the number of the contact you want to view and opt out.

From here you can edit the information in the contact or opt them out by clicking the red bell button.

Again, if you do opt someone out manually in the system and you find out they are able to receive your messages you can always ask support opt them back in. Just click email [email protected].
