How to Get Your Name to Show on Caller ID

Learn how to show your name on calls using CNAM for landlines and contact cards (vCards) to boost recognition on mobile phones.

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Want your organization’s name to show when you call donors, volunteers, or supporters? You’re not alone. Unfortunately, mobile carriers don’t always make this simple. Here are the best options to boost recognition and keep your calls and texts from being ignored.

Option 1: Register a Caller Name (CNAM)

We can register your number(s) in the national caller ID database through our upstream provider. This helps ensure your organization’s name shows up on landline caller ID.

Pros:

  • Works reliably on landlines and some VoIP phones

  • Builds trust when calling known supporters

Considerations:

  • Mobile phones usually do not display this name (they rely on contact lists or carrier apps)

  • Does not prevent spam labeling if your number is misused

Option 2: Share a Contact Card (vCard)

For mobile phones, the most reliable way to ensure your name appears is to get saved in a contact list.

That’s why we built the free Rally vCard Generator — purpose-built for nonprofits and mission-driven organizations. With it, you can create a professional, branded card that includes:

  • Your name or organization

  • Phone number(s) (including text-enabled lines)

  • Email and website

  • Logo or profile photo (optional)

  • Impact story + text-to-donate details

How it works:

  • Share your vCard by text, email, or QR code

  • With one tap, supporters save your info

  • Once saved, your name shows on calls and texts

  • Your messages are less likely to be flagged or ignored

⚠️ iOS 26 Update: Apple’s new message filtering makes saved contact info more important than ever. Sharing a vCard keeps your texts in the primary inbox, not spam or promotions.

Option 3: Lead With Your Name in Texts

Another smart trick: start every text with your name or org. iPhones and many Android devices can detect names in recent messages and suggest them when you call.

For example:

“Hi Sarah, this is Jen from Hope Mission. Just following up…”

Later, the recipient might see:

“Maybe: Jen” or “Hope Mission?”

It’s not perfect, but it helps with recognition until your contact is saved.

How Rally Corp Can Help

We support you with:
