Ringless Voicemail (also called RVM or Voicemail Drops) is a powerful way to reach supporters without interrupting them with a live call. However, carriers and call-routing rules apply limits to how many drops you can send from a single phone number each day. This article explains how daily limits work and how to increase your volume safely.
Why Daily Limits Exist
Telecom carriers place limits on how many calls can originate from a single number within a 24-hour period. This prevents spam, protects reputation, and ensures deliverability. To stay compliant and keep performance high, we enforce similar limits inside Rally.
Your Account Has Two Ways to Send Voicemail Drops
You may send voicemail drops using:
Option 1: Your Platform Phone Number
This is the default option when sending fewer than 50 messages.
Benefits:
Shows your organization name and caller ID (if you have this setup)
Supports call-back from recipients
Great for smaller batch sends and personalized outreach
Daily Limit:
You can send up to 50 voicemail drops per platform number per day.
If you stay under 50 drops per day, no number pool is required.
Option 2: Number Pool (Shared or Private)
If you need to send more than 50 drops per day, you have two choices:
Use Rally’s shared number pool (included at not cost)
Supports higher daily volumes
Does not show your caller ID
Does not support call-back
Purchase your own private number pool
Shows your caller ID
Supports call-back
Pricing depends on volume, contact us for a quote
We recommend a private number pool for higher-volume campaigns where branding matters.
How the System Handles It Automatically
If you schedule a drop over 50 and you don’t have a private pool assigned to your account, the platform automatically switches to Rally’s shared number pool to ensure your drops still go through.
You never need to worry about failed sends from hitting the daily limit.
Example
Sending 35 drops → Uses your number
Sending 120 drops → Routes through number pool
Sending 500+ drops → Recommended: private pool for best results
Best Practice Recommendations
Use your platform number for personalized outreach and smaller batches.
For larger fundraising pushes, campaigns, or notifications, consider a private number pool.
Split very large sends into multiple days if you want to preserve caller ID without extra numbers.
